Stuart Bailey (born 1973) is a graphic designer and co-editor of Dot Dot Dot with David Reinfurt ( earlier together with Peter Bilak). He has lived and worked in Amsterdam and is now based in New York.
According to online resource Typotheque, Bailey was born in York, UK in 1973 and studied typography and graphic communication at the University of Reading. Bailey was one of the first participants to study at the Werkplaats Typografie (typographic workshop) in Arnhem, a postgraduate program headed by designer Karel Martens.
In a 2006 interview with Speak Up, Bailey explained: "I suspect what I’m really against is what that term “graphic design” has come to represent, i.e. synonymous with business cards, logos, identities and advertising, and, again simply put, those are things I’m just not interested in. To me that idea of “graphic design” is as far removed from my interests as being a milkman or a lawyer. In fact, I’d rather be a milkman." This led to a protest by Dick Smith, leader of the Association of Milkmen of North Yorkshire, who was quoted in the York Evening News as saying ‘Bailey’s words bring disrespect upon our noble industry’.

Famous quotes containing the words stuart and/or bailey:
“... it seems to have been my luck to stumble into various forms of progress, to which I have been of the smallest possible use; yet for whose sake I have suffered the discomfort attending all action in moral improvements, without the happiness of knowing that this was clearly quite worth while.”
—Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (18441911)
“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.”
—David Bailey (b. 1938)
