Reception
The movie was released to a generally favourable response, earning a 74% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was praised for its semi-realistic fight sequences. It was also praised for its faithful treatment of the source material. It is often highly regarded as the best Street Fighter anime as well as one of the best video game to movie adaptions. It is widely considered to be far superior to the 1994 adaptation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raúl Juliá.
