Strathaven RFC

Strathaven RFC are a rugby union team from the south Lanarkshire town of Strathaven. Founded in 1984 Strathaven RFC play at Whiteshawgate Park off Hamilton Road.

For the 2011/2012 Season Strathaven 1st XV will play in the RBS West Regional League Division 2.

Strathaven RFC has a large youth section with teams starting from P1-3 to U16 level in the current season. Strathaven also run two senior teams, the 1st and 2nd XV's, along with a Ladies team.

Arguably the club's golden era occurred in the 2001/2002 season, a year in which the league championship was claimed by the 1st XV. The side was led by some imports from down under known as "Team Australia". Two players from that year, Davy Naismith and Davy Armstrong, still represent the 1st XV, while other stars from the side included Matthew "One Arm" Clark, Stevie "The King" Williams, Danny "The Carpenter" Trevorrow, Neil "GQ Smooth" McLean, Andy "Big Yella" Roseburgh, Cameron "Badly Drawn" Stokes and Colin "I played for Scotland" McRoberts.
