Famous quotes containing the words stowe, land and/or trust:

All places where women are excluded tend downward to barbarism; but the moment she is introduced, there come in with her courtesy, cleanliness, sobriety, and order.
    —Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811–1896)

The land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
    Bible: Hebrew Numbers 35:33.

    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
