Stories of Strength

Stories of Strength is a 2005 anthology printed to raise funds for disaster relief. It was edited by Jenna Glatzer, the author of the Celine Dion biography For Keeps. Contributors include science fiction novelist Orson Scott Card, actor Wil Wheaton, and Christian romance author Robin Lee Hatcher.

Featuring more than 100 pieces from writers all over the world, the anthology includes true stories of courage and endurance in challenging situations that range from the death of a child and living through natural disasters, to smaller-scale trials, like dealing with returning an overdue book to the local library.

The book is intended to generate sizeable long-term contributions to disaster relief charities. In addition to the writers' donations, publishing company Lulu.com is donating its profits from the project.

Famous quotes containing the words stories and/or strength:

There have been many stories told about the bottom, or rather no bottom, of this pond, which certainly had no foundation for themselves. It is remarkable how long men will believe in the bottomlessness of a pond without taking the trouble to sound it.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

“You’ll have me over the cliff,” he exclaimed hardly ever yet putting out his strength against her.
“And so I will, by the help of God. Now think of her! Now think of her!” And as she spoke she pressed him backwards towards his fall.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)
