Stoney Trail

Stoney Trail, designated Alberta Provincial Highway No. 201 by Alberta Transportation, is a ring road highway around Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Currently located entirely within the City of Calgary, Highway 201 is one of the two ring roads in Alberta (the other being Highway 216 in Edmonton). It is also one of three highways in the 1-216 series of Alberta's provincial highway system with a three-digit highway number designation.

Highway 201 serves as a bypass route for Highway 1, a major urban thoroughfare. It will also serve as a bypass route for Highway 2 (Deerfoot Trail), Alberta's busiest highway, once the southeast leg is completed. Its highway number, 201, was derived from these two highways.

Highway 201, is split into four sections, designated by compass quadrants. The northeast segment was known as East Freeway until partway through construction. The construction of the southeast portion of the Ring Road started in the spring of 2010, with a completion date of fall 2013. The southwest segment may be subject to change after the rejection of an agreement by the residents of the Tsuu Tina reservation that it had been planned to cross.

Stoney Trail was named after the Nakoda First Nation, who are commonly known in English as the Stoney.
