Steve Steinbeiss - Mixed Martial Arts Career - Ultimate Fighting Championship

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Steinbess was part of the transfer of light heavyweight and middleweight fighters in the WEC to the UFC.

He was supposed to make his debut at UFC Fight Night 18 against Ryan Jensen, but the fight was pulled from the card. It was then rescheduled for UFC Fight Night: Diaz vs. Guillard. Steinbess lost the fight after Jensen applied a guillotine choke and the referee prematurely stopped the fight thinking Steve was out. Steinbess was instead giving the ref the thumbs up, the referee proclaimed that he thought Steinbess went limp.

Steinbess was expected to face Nick Catone on January 11, 2010 at UFC Fight Night 20, but was pulled from the card before the event due to injury.

Steinbess then faced Rob Kimmons on August 1, 2010 at UFC on Versus 2. Steinbess lost by unanimous decision to Kimmons and was released from the UFC.

Famous quotes containing the words ultimate and/or fighting:

Even though fathers, grandparents, siblings, memories of ancestors are important agents of socialization, our society focuses on the attributes and characteristics of mothers and teachers and gives them the ultimate responsibility for the child’s life chances.
    Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)

The things a man has to have are hope and confidence in himself against odds, and sometimes he needs somebody, his pal or his mother or his wife or God, to give him that confidence. He’s got to have some inner standards worth fighting for or there won’t be any way to bring him into conflict. And he must be ready to choose death before dishonor without making too much song and dance about it. That’s all there is to it.
    Clark Gable (1901–1960)
