Steve Parish - Photography and Publishing

Photography and Publishing

Steve Parish traveled extensively from 1981 to 1984. While doing so, he noticed the absence of photographic material for the tourist market featuring Australia. In 1985, he set up Wildlife Publishing, later renamed Steve Parish Publishing.

Steve uses an array of 135mm, medium format and panoramic film formats in addition to digital video. He uses Fuji Velvia.

Steve Parish Publishing went into liquidation in March 2012 following losses associated with the 2010–2011 Queensland floods. The company failed to receive an insurance payout. Pascal Press purchased all the publishing assets of Steve Parish Publishing Pty Limited.

Famous quotes containing the words photography and/or publishing:

If photography is allowed to stand in for art in some of its functions it will soon supplant or corrupt it completely thanks to the natural support it will find in the stupidity of the multitude. It must return to its real task, which is to be the servant of the sciences and the arts, but the very humble servant, like printing and shorthand which have neither created nor supplanted literature.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

While you continue to grow fatter and richer publishing your nauseating confectionery, I shall become a mole, digging here, rooting there, stirring up the whole rotten mess where life is hard, raw and ugly.
    Norman Reilly Raine (1895–1971)
