Jewish Reception
Some members of the Jewish community have regarded Sizer's works as examples of Christian antisemitism. U.K. journalist Melanie Phillips is a notable Jewish critic of Sizer and has condemned him in her writings. British Jewish historian Geoffrey Alderman has also criticized Sizer for masking his religious prejudice in "academic guise." Jewish Christians and Messianic Jews such as Aaron Abramson and Jacob Prasch have also expressed their strong disagreement with Sizer's views.
Sizer's books have been endorsed by Jewish academics such as the Reform Jewish Rabbi Dan Cohn-Sherbok and Middle East historian Norton Mezvinsky.

Famous quotes containing the words jewish and/or reception:
“The exile is a singular, whereas refugees tend to be thought of in the mass. Armenian refugees, Jewish refugees, refugees from Franco Spain. But a political leader or artistic figure is an exile. Thomas Mann yesterday, Theodorakis today. Exile is the noble and dignified term, while a refugee is more hapless.... What is implied in these nuances of social standing is the respect we pay to choice. The exile appears to have made a decision, while the refugee is the very image of helplessness.”
—Mary McCarthy (19121989)
“Satire is a sort of glass, wherein beholders do generally discover everybodys face but their own; which is the chief reason for that kind of reception it meets in the world, and that so very few are offended with it.”
—Jonathan Swift (16671745)
