Stephanie S. Tolan (b. 1942, Ohio) is an American author of children's books. Her book Surviving the Applewhites received a Newbery Honor in 2003. She obtained a Masters Degree in English at Purdue University. Tolan is a senior fellow at the Institute for Educational Advancement. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband. Her papers are kept at the University of Central Missouri.
