Staunton Mall - History

History

Staunton Mall was originally constructed in 1968 as Staunton Plaza, an open-air shopping center featuring Safeway Inc., JCPenney and Montgomery Ward. It was later enclosed. During the mid-1990s, the mall saw a renewal as it received a facelift, and many new stores. The mall was purchased by Colonial Properties Trust in the late 1990s and renamed Colonial Mall-Staunton. The mall was sold again in 2007, to First Republic Group Realty, which returned the mall's name to Staunton Mall. The mall is also home to a 6-screen cinema.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

    The history of the Victorian Age will never be written: we know too much about it.
    Lytton Strachey (1880–1932)

    You that would judge me do not judge alone
    This book or that, come to this hallowed place
    Where my friends’ portraits hang and look thereon;
    Ireland’s history in their lineaments trace;
    Think where man’s glory most begins and ends
    And say my glory was I had such friends.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
