Famous quotes containing the word destruction:

Though castles topple on their warder’s heads,
Though palaces and pyramids do slope
Their heads to their foundations; though the treasure
Of nature’s germens tumble all together,
    Even till destruction sicken—answer me
    To what I ask you.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

We are heading towards catastrophe. I think the world is going to pieces. I am very pessimistic. Why? Because the world hasn’t been punished yet, and the only punishment that could be adequate is the nuclear destruction of the world.
    Elie Wiesel (b. 1928)

Postmodernity is the simultaneity of the destruction of earlier values and their reconstruction. It is renovation within ruination.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
