Shape Deformation
In physics, deformation is a change of a shape due to an applied force. Investigating shape deformation can reveal the transformation between two similar shapes and give information about local and global shape differences. Mathematically, a deformation is defined as a mapping from a shape t to y by a transformation function Φ, i.e. .(See Definition 10.2 of I.L. Dryden and K.V. Mardia (1998). Statistical Shape Analysis. Famous quotes containing the word shape:
“Man is not merely the sum of his masks. Behind the shifting face of personality is a hard nugget of self, a genetic gift.... The self is malleable but elastic, snapping back to its original shape like a rubber band. Mental illness is no myth, as some have claimed. It is a disturbance in our sense of possession of a stable inner self that survives its personae.”
—Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
