State Secretary of Sweden, (Swedish: statssekreterare). Each cabinet minister of the Swedish government has a State Secretary, who is the closest person working with the cabinet minister. Some cabinet ministers of higher rank, like the Minister for Finance (Swedish: finansminister), have more than one State Secretary. If a minister dies or resigns, or if a government resigns, the State Secretary also turns in their resignation.

Famous quotes containing the words state and/or secretary:
“Hast ever ben in Omaha
Where rolls the dark Missouri down,
Where four strong horses scarce can draw
An empty wagon through the town?
Where sand is blown from every mound
To fill your eyes and ears and throat;
Where all the steamboats are aground,
And all the houses are afloat?...
If not, take heed to what I say,
Youll find it just as I have found it;
And if it lies upon your way
For Gods sake, reader, go around it!”
—For the State of Nebraska, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“... the wife of an executive would be a better wife had she been a secretary first. As a secretary, you learn to adjust to the bosss moods. Many marriages would be happier if the wife would do that.”
—Anne Bogan, U.S. executive secretary. As quoted in Working, book 1, by Studs Terkel (1973)
