Star Wreck: in The Pirkinning - Imperial Edition

Imperial Edition

Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning: Imperial Edition was released on December 13, 2006. Unlike the original version, this special edition is available on DVD only, and is distributed by Universal Pictures Nordic. The original version remains available for download.

In the Imperial Edition, the only major change to the movie itself is that the special effects have been redone and ship models are entirely new. The 2 DVD release also has a number of documentaries and a commentary track. The primary motivation for this release was the production crew's desire to use their own ship designs in the movie, and also to get additional funding for their next movie, Iron Sky (Rautataivas).

The Imperial Edition received North American DVD release in 2009, only as a single-DVD set though all special features of the Finnish release were retained. For this release, the box title of the film was shortened to Star Wreck and the box art shows Torssonen wearing a Starfleet uniform complete with a normal Star Trek-style insignia.

Famous quotes containing the words imperial and/or edition:

Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore.
    Apocrypha. Ecclesiasticus, 44:14.

The line “their name liveth for evermore” was chosen by Rudyard Kipling on behalf of the Imperial War Graves Commission as an epitaph to be used in Commonwealth War Cemeteries. Kipling had himself lost a son in the fighting.

Books have their destinies like men. And their fates, as made by generations of readers, are very different from the destinies foreseen for them by their authors. Gulliver’s Travels, with a minimum of expurgation, has become a children’s book; a new illustrated edition is produced every Christmas. That’s what comes of saying profound things about humanity in terms of a fairy story.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
