Famous quotes containing the words star, honor and/or guard:

    Find out the peaceful hermitage,
    The hairy gown and mossy cell,
    Where I may sit and rightly spell
    Of every star that heaven doth show,
    And every herb that sips the dew;
    Till old experience do attain
    To something like prophetic strain.
    These pleasures Melancholy give,
    And I with thee will choose to live.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

    We honor the rich because they have externally the freedom, power, and grace which we feel to be proper to man, proper to us.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Most of us are aware of and pretend to detest the barefaced instances of that hypocrisy by which men deceive others, but few of us are upon our guard or see that more fatal hypocrisy by which we deceive and over-reach our own hearts.
    Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
