Stanford Hospital and Clinics - Life Flight

Life Flight

The Stanford Life Flight program began May 1, 1984. Stanford Life Flight flies in an EC 145 helicopter that can fly under both visual and instrument flight rules, allowing for response to calls in nearly any weather. The aircraft will accommodate two patients with two Flight Nurses, or one patient with up to four caregivers, plus the Pilot. During the non-flight time, the flight nurses are available to support the Emergency Department and the ICU's.

Famous quotes containing the words life and/or flight:

He ... was a sociologist; he had got into an intellectual muddle early on in life and never managed to get out.
    Iris Murdoch (b. 1919)

It is marvelous indeed to watch on television the rings of Saturn close; and to speculate on what we may yet find at galaxy’s edge. But in the process, we have lost the human element; not to mention the high hope of those quaint days when flight would create “one world.” Instead of one world, we have “star wars,” and a future in which dumb dented human toys will drift mindlessly about the cosmos long after our small planet’s dead.
    Gore Vidal (b. 1925)
