Famous quotes containing the words standing and/or buddha:

    For months it hasn’t known the taste of steel
    Washed down with rusty water in a tin.
    But standing outdoors hungry, in the cold,
    Except in towns at night, is not a sin.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

    The vast silence of Buddha overtakes
    and overrules the oncoming roar
    of tragic life that fills alleys and avenues;
    it blocks the way of pedicabs, police, convoys.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
