School Activities

  • The Odyssey is an interschool cultural festival that has been part of the school's tradition for the past 20 years. The festival spans three days with more than 15 events. Five schools of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar take part in the festival.

The festival is wholly organised by students of the 11th and 12th grade of the school. Participating schools have been: St. Xavier's High School, Loyola Hall, St. Xavier's Gandhinagar, Mt. Carmel Ahmedabad, Rachana Ahmedabad, St. Xavier's High School, Mirzapur, Little Flower School, Mahatma Gandhi International School and Tulip school.

Father Morondo (the founder of The Odyssey) called off the Odyssey in 2006. It has been replaced by The Chronos, again an initiative by Father Morondo.

The students are divided among four 4 dens: Lions, Panthers, Bears and Tigers. There is an intense battle every year to see which den makes it to the top. The Den captains and the symbolic torch bearer (and accompanying flag bearers) are chosen from the best sportspersons of the school.

Famous quotes containing the words school and/or activities:

Children in home-school conflict situations often receive a double message from their parents: “The school is the hope for your future, listen, be good and learn” and “the school is your enemy. . . .” Children who receive the “school is the enemy” message often go after the enemy—act up, undermine the teacher, undermine the school program, or otherwise exercise their veto power.
    James P. Comer (20th century)

That is the real pivot of all bourgeois consciousness in all countries: fear and hate of the instinctive, intuitional, procreative body in man or woman. But of course this fear and hate had to take on a righteous appearance, so it became moral, said that the instincts, intuitions and all the activities of the procreative body were evil, and promised a reward for their suppression. That is the great clue to bourgeois psychology: the reward business.
