St. Lunaire-Griquet - Culture and Sights

Culture and Sights

There is a school with a public library in Main Street. St. Monica's Church is a wooden Roman Catholic church with a small flèche instead of a spire. It is opposite the Town Hall on Main Street. A War Memorial with colourful models of ships and lighthouses was erected in Main Street as well. The Wild Berry Economusée on route 436 is the world's only museum dedicated to the interpretation of wild berries.

Famous quotes containing the words culture and, culture and/or sights:

Without metaphor the handling of general concepts such as culture and civilization becomes impossible, and that of disease and disorder is the obvious one for the case in point. Is not crisis itself a concept we owe to Hippocrates? In the social and cultural domain no metaphor is more apt than the pathological one.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

With respect to a true culture and manhood, we are essentially provincial still, not metropolitan,—mere Jonathans. We are provincial, because we do not find at home our standards; because we do not worship truth, but the reflection of truth; because we are warped and narrowed by an exclusive devotion to trade and commerce and manufacturers and agriculture and the like, which are but means, and not the end.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

We can’t always have the beautiful aspect of things. Let us make the most of our sights that are beautiful and let the others go
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)
