In comparison with the bands recent high standards 2006 threatened to be a momentary glitch when the band missed the entry for the Scottish Championships in Dumbarton and had their worst placing at a Major Championship in years at the British Championships (8th).
The World Championships was bitter sweet for the band. The drum corps won the World Drumming Title for the first time becoming the first band from The Repbulic of Ireland ever to do so. However the band slipped out of the top six for the first time since 2003.
