Academics
The university was created as a Normal school, then developed college-level programs for teachers. Today it offers more than 200 majors, minors and pre-professional programs in five academic colleges. The School of Graduate Studies offers more than 60 graduate programs and certificates leading to specialist, Master of Arts, Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering Management, Master of Music, Master of Science degrees and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration. A new graduate program of note is the master's in regulatory affairs & services, one of five programs offering classes at the university's Twin Cities Graduate Center in Maple Grove, Minn.
St. Cloud State has about 20 education-abroad programs, including a year-around program at Alnwick Castle in northern England.
