St Chad's College - Bar

Bar

The college bar won the 'University Bar' category of the 2009 Best Bar None awards for Durham City and held this title until the end of the 2009-10 academic year. The bar committee consists of the Bar President, Manager, Treasurer, Secretary and Head Cellarman. St Chad's Bar is one of the few remaining college bar still run by full-time undergraduate students. It is renowned for its good atmosphere owing to its underground location and excellent choice of 90's music on the juke box.

Famous quotes containing the word bar:

O City city, I can sometimes hear
Beside a public bar in Lower Thames Street,
The pleasant whining of a mandolin
And a clatter and a chatter from within
    Where fishmen lounge at noon.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

‘Yes; quaint and curious war is!
    You shoot a fellow down
You’d treat if met where any bar is,
    Or help to half-a-crown.’
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)

Even the most incompetent English actor, coming on the stage briefly to announce the presence below of Lord and Lady Ditherege, gives forth a sound so soft and dulcet as almost to be a bar of music. But sometimes that is all there is. The words are lost in the graceful sweep of the notes.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
