Curriculum

Following the Ontario curriculum like other Catholic high schools in the York Catholic District School Board, studies at St. Augustine CHS include: Math, English language studies, Modern Language studies, Canadian and world studies, Technology, Visual Art, Musical Studies, Religion, Business, and Science.

Additionally, St. Augustine has a Laptop Learning Program. The program is used to enhance the learning of students by using technologically appropriate tools that are meant to engage, stimulate and develop student knowledge, skills and attitudes. The optional program is designed for students in Grades 9-11 in the core subject areas such as Mathematics, English, Religion, Geography (Grade 9), history (Grade 10), Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Business Studies. Students use corporate level IBM ThinkPads and have a comprehensive set of programs and software installed in them for student use. Students use the laptops as a complement to classroom teaching so that they can be introduced to 21st Century Learning and Web 2.0 skills such as blogging, social media tools, and web-based instructional strategies.

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
