Athletics
St. Andrews' athletic teams are known as the Knights. The university offers 14 intercollegiate sports in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) starting in the 2012-13 academic year. St. Andrews was formerly a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, primarily competing in Conference Carolinas from 1988 to 2012. The university has transitioned to the NAIA after 23 years in the NCAA, following the end of the 2011-12 academic year.
