Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering was started in 1996 affiliated to Anna University. This institution was founded by Padma Bhushan Dr.Shiv Nadar, industrialist and philanthropist, the founder and chairman of HCL Technologies, a global IT Services company. The admissions policy strongly favours merit. The institution has constantly featured as one of the premier engineering institutes in Tamil Nadu and one of the best private engineering colleges.It was ranked 38th in the list of top 75 engineering colleges in India by Outlook magazine in 2011
