Competitions

Students at Sprott are encouraged to apply and compete in several academically based competitions each year. A list of some of the competitions, their structure and prizes are listed here:

  • National Capital Leadership Competition- Between Sprott School of Business, Telfer School of Business, and in 2010 including Algonquin College, the NCLC is a competition geared towards rewarding and retaining leaders in the Ottawa technology sector. Workload includes 2 papers, and one 15 minute presentation. Prize is $5000 and a 4 month internship at a minimum of $20 per hour with an Ottawa technology firm.
  • Capstone Festival - A team based competition between Carleton BCOM and BIB student groups who have been nominated as best in class in the 4000 level strategic management course. The students will showcase their strategic business solutions developed during the course and will answer any questions asked about their solution. A judging panel of industry executives and academics will select the top three teams after presentations. 1st place gets $6000, 2nd gets $3000, 3rd gets $1000.
  • JDC Central - A team based competition between English speaking business schools throughout Eastern Canada. Students can compete in various academic case teams, sports, social and debate.
