Famous quotes containing the words integration of, integration, arab, citizens and/or sports:

The only phenomenon with which writing has always been concomitant is the creation of cities and empires, that is the integration of large numbers of individuals into a political system, and their grading into castes or classes.... It seems to have favored the exploitation of human beings rather than their enlightenment.
    Claude Lévi-Strauss (b. 1908)

    Herbert Spencer (1820–1903)

    I saw the Arab map.
It resembled a mare shuffling on,
    dragging its history like saddlebags,
nearing its tomb and the pitch of hell.
Adonis [Ali Ahmed Said] (b. 1930)

We bring the numbers down—not by solving the problem, but by deciding it’s their own damn fault.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

Guys do not have a genetic blueprint that allows them to understand or love sports.
Lesley Visser, U.S. sports reporter and announcer. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 82 (June 17, 1991)
