Sports extra, sometimes also labeled Sport extra, is a French language sporting news and information radio station, programmed by the Société Radio-Canada for Sirius Satellite Radio. It is available to all Sirius subscribers in Canada and the United States.
Until October 2007, the channel was known as Infoplus, and was a French language news station. The station was primarily an audio simulcast of the CBC's Réseau de l'information, with some additional programming sources. It is assumed that the channel was flipped to a French language sports talker, because the service had two French news/talk channels while having no French sports coverage.
The CBC still provides a French language news service to Sirius subscribers on channel 94, Première Plus.
Famous quotes containing the words sports and/or extra:
“In the past, it seemed to make sense for a sportswriter on sabbatical from the playpen to attend the quadrennial hawgkilling when Presidential candidates are chosen, to observe and report upon politicians at play. After all, national conventions are games of a sort, and sports offers few spectacles richer in low comedy.”
—Walter Wellesley (Red)
“But that beginning was wiped out in fear
The day I swung suspended with the grapes,
And was come after like Eurydice
And brought down safely from the upper regions;
And the life I live nows an extra life
I can waste as I please on whom I please.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
