Kurash

Kurash is the national sport in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan. It is a form of martial art. It is played like Judo/Kushti/Wrestling, between two players, male and female separately in 7 different weight categories each. Kurash has been recognised as a Martial art, Olympic Sport by Olympic Council of Asia (O.C.A.)www.ocasia.org, Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah, a renowned Martial Artist, Practising, Playing, Administrating, and Officiating the Olympic Sport of karate in Pakistan, since more than 28 years, (till todate i.e. January 2012) holding the Competent Official Degree of Black Belt 3rd Dan from World Karate Federation (WKF) and 4th Dan from Bando Karate duly awarded by the Pioneer of Martial Arts in Pakistan, World Fame, Grand Master Muhammad Ashraf Tai.

Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah, Secretary General, K.F.P. introduced this game in Pakistan on 14 August 2003, being the Founder & Grand Master of Kurash in Pakistan. This sport is governed by its national body viz; Kurash Federation of Pakistan (K.F.P.) duly recognised by its World Governing Body i.e. International Kurash Association (I.K.A.). www.kurash-ika.org and Asian Governing Body i.e. Kurash Confederation of Asia (K.C.A.)

National Institute of Kurash Pakistan, NIK(P) being headed by its Founder & President, Syed Mazhar Hussain Shah, is the Sole responsible Organisation to provide Technical/Practical/Refereeing/Coaching/Training/Expertise, etc. etc. for this Olympic status sport in Pakistan and also to assist the National Governing body viz; Kurash Federation of Pakistan (K.F.P.)

KARATE:

I am Nadeem Azhar (Hon. General secretary Rawalpindi District Karate Association) I like to add additional information about martial Arts in Pakistan and specially about Karate. In Pakistan the sports Karate have very strong footage now. under the revolutionary command of Pakistan Karate Federation Mr Muhammad Jahangir and Shamim Hashmi, this sports have bagged many Gold medals in international events like south Asian games, Common wealth Games and Asian games.

Pakistan Women karate Association under the leadership of Andleeb Sudho have produced many international karate players. All the affiliated units of PKF from all the provinces of Pakistan and further from division level to District and Tehsil level are working now. Punjab karate Association is very much active under the leadership Mr Bashir But and his efforts are visible in all the major sports events of Punjab Sports Board and Punjab Olympic Association.
