Spitz - Dog Breeds

Dog Breeds

This list might not be complete and is, at best, an educated guess from experts and dog fanciers based on the physical characteristics of the breeds. Some, such as the Papillon, exhibit the tail, coat, and head of a spitz dog, but its ears more closely resemble those of spaniels although being upright like the spitz. In the future, genetic studies might better clarify the relationship among various breeds. Note that dogs listed here might also be classified as toy dogs, herding dogs, sled dogs, and in other types.

Famous quotes containing the words dog and/or breeds:

Thou call’st me dog before thou hadst a cause,
But since I am a dog, beware my fangs.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

If from the earth we came, it was an earth
That bore us as a part of all the things
It breeds and that was lewder than it is.
Our nature is her nature. Hence it comes,
Since by our nature we grow old, earth grows
The same. We parallel the mother’s death.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
