Rules of Euclidean Constructions
In Euclidean constructions, five operations are allowed:
- Draw a line through two points
- Draw a circle through a point with a given center
- Find the intersection point of two lines
- Find the intersection points of two circles
- Find the intersection points of a line and a circle
The initial elements in a geometric construction are called the "givens", such as a given point, a given line or a given circle.

Famous quotes containing the words rules of and/or rules:
“... a large portion of success is derived from flexibility. It is all very well to have principles, rules of behavior concerning right and wrong. But it is quite as essential to know when to forget as when to use them.”
—Alice Foote MacDougall (18671945)
“However diligent she may be, however dedicated, no mother can escape the larger influences of culture, biology, fate . . . until we can actually live in a society where mothers and children genuinely matter, ours is an essentially powerless responsibility. Mothers carry out most of the work orders, but most of the rules governing our lives are shaped by outside influences.”
—Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)
