Leadership Southern California

Developing Regional Leaders

Leadership Southern California is a unique, experiential “master class” on Southern California in the company of talented, high-energy peers.

Each year the program enrolls about 40 carefully selected mid- to senior-level leaders in a 10-session program that embodies the values of regional stewardship, experiential learning and a deep exposure to regional public policy issues. Participants travel across five counties, exploring cross-cutting themes while interacting with leaders of regional, state and national note.

Famous quotes containing the words leadership, southern and/or california:

The liberal wing of the feminist movement may have improved the lives of its middle- and upper-class constituency—indeed, 1992 was the Year of the White Middle Class Woman—but since the leadership of this faction of the feminist movement has singled out black men as the meta-enemy of women, these women represent one of the most serious threats to black male well-being since the Klan.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)

If the study of his images
Is the study of man, this image of Saturday,
This Italian symbol, this Southern landscape, is like
A waking, as in images we awake,
Within the very object that we seek,
    Participants of its being.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Resorts advertised for waitresses, specifying that they “must appear in short clothes or no engagement.” Below a Gospel Guide column headed, “Where our Local Divines Will Hang Out Tomorrow,” was an account of spirited gun play at the Bon Ton. In Jeff Winney’s California Concert Hall, patrons “bucked the tiger” under the watchful eye of Kitty Crawhurst, popular “lady” gambler.
