  • In 1998, Adrian McPherson was named both "Mr. Football" and "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Florida, selected to receive the Florida Mr. Football Award and Florida Mr. Basketball Award, the only athlete to have garnered both titles.
  • The 1995 NCAA National Championship game between the University of Florida and the University of Nebraska featured several players from Bradenton; Florida: Robby Stevenson, Dock Pollard (Manatee High School), Reggie Green (Southeast High School), Reggie Davis (Southeast High School); Nebraska: Leslie Dennis (Southeast High School), Tyrone Williams, Tommie Frazier (Manatee High School) and Shevin Wiggins (Manatee High School).
