Southdown Creative's Fred Northup, Jr. met his future business partner, Ryan McFaul, while both were attending NYU Film School. While there, Northup was hired by Saturday Night Live into its film unit, the unit primarily responsible for producing the fake commercials. After Saturday Night Live, Northup worked in Los Angeles at Warner Bros. Television before moving to Seattle. After working for five years as a creative writer for Microsoft Game Studios, Northup founded Southdown Creative.
