Rules
In the group stage matches, each half lasts 40 minutes, before reverting to the standard 45 minutes for the knockout stages. The tournament features an unconventional points system through the group stages, which the tournament organisers state is "designed to encourage attacking football".
- Each winning side gets the standard three points for a win.
- Losing teams receive one point if they lose without scoring, and two if they lose but score.
- There are no draws; if teams are all square at full-time the game goes straight to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

Famous quotes containing the word rules:
“A scholar, in his Segmenta, left a note,
As follows, The Ruler of Reality,
If more unreal than New Haven, is not
A real ruler, but rules what is unreal.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
“No rules exist, and examples are simply life-savers answering the appeals of rules making vain attempts to exist.”
—André Breton (18961966)
“It would be naive to think that peace and justice can be achieved easily. No set of rules or study of history will automatically resolve the problems.... However, with faith and perseverance,... complex problems in the past have been resolved in our search for justice and peace. They can be resolved in the future, provided, of course, that we can think of five new ways to measure the height of a tall building by using a barometer.”
—Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
