South Tyneside Youth Orchestra

South Tyneside Youth Orchestra (STYO), now known as 'South Tyneside Orchestra' is an orchestra based in South Tyneside in the North East of England That mainly consists of disabled and disadvantaged children from the area. It contains over 60 people and is an amalgamation of some of the finest youth and adult musicians of the local area. Frequently performing all over South Tyneside, South Tyneside Orchestra, and other ensembles from South Tyneside Music Service were the first LEA Music Service to showcase talent at the then new Sage Gateshead. This lead on to annual concerts at the sage with all groups within the music service paying along with primary schools from the area lending their singing children to the occasion to form a 100 children strong choir. Led and Conducted by Ernest Young, Former, Director of Music Service in South Tyneside.
