South Miami High School - Uniforms

Uniforms

On April 15, 2008, the Miami-Dade County School Board proposed that the school should have uniforms for the 2008–2009 school year. This was agreed. The Uniform Policy is:

Shirts: Polo or oxford style shirts (with sleeves) must have a collar. Midriffs cannot be exposed and undergarments must not be visible. Students may use striped or solid colored shirts within the allowed color scheme.

Pants: Dark Brown or Khaki styled pants or shorts which falls below the knee. Beige or brown jeans are also permitted. Spandex, sweat pants, and skirts are not permitted. Pants must be worn at the waist and must be accompanied by a belt. Pants should be worn uniform style; the "dropping" of pants is not permitted.

Shoes: Shoes must have backs (closed shoes only). Sandals, open toed shoes, and soft sole shoes are not permitted.

Other: Hats, scarves, and hooded garments are not to be used during the school day. School emblem patches and badges may be placed on student shirts.
