Government

South Jordan has a council-manager form of government. The council, the city's legislative body, consists of five members and a mayor, each serving a four-year term. The council sets policy, and the city manager oversees day-to-day operations. As of January 2012, the mayor is Scott Osborne, and the city manager is John H. Geilmann. The city council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 PM.

Famous quotes containing the word government:

Sure the people are stupid: the human race is stupid. Sure Congress is an inefficient instrument of government. But the people are not stupid enough to abandon representative government for any other kind, including government by the guy who knows.
    Bernard Devoto (1897–1955)

We would be a lot safer if the Government would take its money out of science and put it into astrology and the reading of palms.... Only in superstition is there hope. If you want to become a friend of civilization, then become an enemy of the truth and a fanatic for harmless balderdash.
    Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)

The Negro revolution is controlled by foxy white liberals, by the Government itself. But the Black Revolution is controlled only by God.
    Malcolm X (1925–1965)
