Further Development
After the formation of the SE&CR, three minor lines were built before the SE&CR became one of the constituent parts of the Southern Railway in 1923. They were:
- Tattenham Corner Line - Kingswood to Tattenham Corner, in 1901.
- The Sheppey Light Railway - branch off the Sheerness Line, in 1901 (closed 1950).
- Bexhill branch off the Hastings Line - Crowhurst and Bexhill West, in 1902 (now closed).

Famous quotes containing the word development:
“Every new development for the last three centuries has brought men closer to a state of affairs in which absolutely nothing would be recognized in the whole world as possessing a claim to obedience except the authority of the State. The majority of people in Europe obey nothing else.”
—Simone Weil (19091943)
“Understanding child development takes the emphasis away from the childs characterlooking at the child as good or bad. The emphasis is put on behavior as communication. Discipline is thus seen as problem-solving. The child is helped to learn a more acceptable manner of communication.”
—Ellen Galinsky (20th century)
