Freshman Transition Academy
In the fall semester of 2011, rising ninth graders coming to South Cobb High School will enter the new Freshman Transition Academy. They will attend to their school day in a separate building from the rest of the student body, a "school within a school," for classes, for attendance, and for lunch. Students will also be required to wear uniforms. The purpose of the Freshman Transition Academy is to promote a sense of belonging, teacher-student relationships, improved academic performance, and improved attendance rates. The graduating Class of 2015 is the first to utilize the Freshmen Transition Academy, also known as the FTA building.
