South Australia Australian Rules Football Team - History

History

Throughout the majority of the team's history its players came from the SANFL. Between 1977-1999 South Australian players playing in leagues around Australia (e.g. the SANFL and the Australian Football League (AFL)) played State of Origin football for the Croweaters. Since 1999 the team reverted to a league representative team for the SANFL. South Australian AFL players were represented in the AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match against Victoria in 2008.

South Australia's only interstate game of 2013 will be held on 11 May at the City Mazda Stadium (home of SANFL club West Adelaide Bloods) when The Croweaters host the North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) Northern Conference.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of literature—take the net result of Tiraboshi, Warton, or Schlegel,—is a sum of a very few ideas, and of very few original tales,—all the rest being variation of these.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)

The history of the world is the record of the weakness, frailty and death of public opinion.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)
