Soundbombing II is the second installment in Rawkus Records Soundbombing compilation series mixed by DJ's J-Rocc & Babu in a mixtape format. These mixes exemplify what it is for a DJ to actually mix two records together smoothly. Soundbombing II was possibly the most successful and acclaimed release out of all the Rawkus compilations. The album was launched in April 1999.
Soundbombing II fuses up-and-coming MC's with established rappers, and was able to deliver an underground Hip Hop sound to a more mainstream audience. Yet this is not a discount to anything or anyone on the album, it certainly became an instant classic.
The lead single, "1-9-9-9", featuring Common (pictured on album art) and Sadat X, (also pictured) became a Rap hit in 1999. The album features appearances from :
