Something Borrowed (novel)
Something Borrowed is a 2005 chick lit novel by author Emily Giffin. The novel concerns morals regarding friends and relationships. It addresses the stigma against single women in their thirties and the pressure that society places on them to get married. "This is a realistic situation that women face in today's society", according to one book review.
The title comes from a "Something old, something new", a traditional nursery rhyme concerning a brides attire.
Something Borrowed became an international bestseller and was placed on The New York Times Best Seller List, among others. It was developed into a film by Hilary Swank's shared production company.

Famous quotes containing the word borrowed:
“The bugle-call to arms again sounded in my war-trained ear, the bayonets gleamed, the sabres clashed, and the Prussian helmets and the eagles of France stood face to face on the borders of the Rhine.... I remembered our own armies, my own war-stricken country and its dead, its widows and orphans, and it nerved me to action for which the physical strength had long ceased to exist, and on the borrowed force of love and memory, I strove with might and main.”
