Solo Flights

Solo Flights is the title of a recording by Chet Atkins. Side one of this album features Atkins' experiment with the "Octabass Guitar" wherein he replaced the two lower strings (the E and A strings) with heavier gauges in order to drop an octave and create a fuller sound.

This album was re-issued on CD for the first time in Japan only on April 22, 2009

Famous quotes containing the words solo and/or flights:

All mothers need instruction, nurturing, and an understanding mentor after the birth of a baby, but in this age of fast foods, fast tracks, and fast lanes, it doesn’t always happen. While we live in a society that provides recognition for just about every life event—from baptisms to bar mitzvahs, from wedding vows to funeral rites—the entry into parenting seems to be a solo flight, with nothing and no one to mark formally the new mom’s entry into motherhood.
    Sally Placksin (20th century)

Franklin said once in one of his inspired flights of malignity—
Early to bed and early to rise
Make a man healthy and wealth and wise.
As if it were any object to a boy to be healthy and wealthy and wise on such terms.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)
