Leadership
The leadership is formed by a central committee, and a national committee. Elections on a slate to the central committee are held yearly at the national conference. As of 2012 the central committee members are: Weyman Bennett, Mark Bergfeld, Michael Bradley, Alex Callinicos, Esme Choonara, Joseph Choonara, Hannah Dee, Charlie Kimber, Amy Leather, Judith Orr, Colin Smith, Martin Smith, Mark L. Thomas and a trade union activist whose name the party withholds to protect them from their employer.
The national committee consists of 50 members elected annually at national conference. At least four party councils a year are to be arranged by the central committee. At these councils two delegates elected from each branch plus the national committee will be entitled to attend.
There is also a national student committee elected from members of Socialist Worker Student Societies.
Other prominent members include: Colin Barker, John Molyneux, Paul McGarr, Michael Lavalette, John Rose, Ian Birchall, Richard Seymour, Mike Gonzalez, China MiƩville, Jonathan Neale, Rob Owen, Pat Stack, and Tom Hickey.

Famous quotes containing the word leadership:
“A woman who occupies the same realm of thought with man, who can explore with him the depths of science, comprehend the steps of progress through the long past and prophesy those of the momentous future, must ever be surprised and aggravated with his assumptions of leadership and superiority, a superiority she never concedes, an authority she utterly repudiates.”
—Elizabeth Cady Stanton (18151902)
“The liberal wing of the feminist movement may have improved the lives of its middle- and upper-class constituencyindeed, 1992 was the Year of the White Middle Class Womanbut since the leadership of this faction of the feminist movement has singled out black men as the meta-enemy of women, these women represent one of the most serious threats to black male well-being since the Klan.”
—Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
“This I do know and can say to you: Our country is in more danger now than at any time since the Declaration of Independence. We dont dare follow the Lindberghs, Wheelers and Nyes, casting suspicion, sowing discord around the leadership of Franklin D. Roosevelt. We dont want revolution among ourselves.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
