Social Effects of Pornography - Pornography and School-age Juveniles

Pornography and School-age Juveniles

Watching hard core pornography can give youngsters a distorted view of sex, for example teenage boys and girls can feel rape is normal. Children watch pornography from very young ages, some watch material older siblings have obtained, youngsters do not have the experience to tell what is normal, what is aggressive, exploitative and/or abusive. Children who have watched pornography feel sex is normal and are more likely to allow child sex abuse. Children as young as three can access the Internet and may access porn accidentally. Young children need to know if they come across explicit material they should tell an adult. Young schoolchildren are sexualised and play sexually explicit games. In the UK teachers feel schoolchildren need to be educated about pornography and warned what is reasonable and what is not acceptable.
