SM Southmall - Renovation

Renovation

The year 2010 marks the mall's rebirth. The mall began renovations by March. One of its major renovation is the addition of an IMAX Theatre which was opened last July 14, 2011. The Department Store that was located at the heart of the building, occupying the lower and ground floors was relocated at the east wing of the main building, now occupying the ground floor and the second floor of the building. The Department Store's former location is now a wide center hallway that leads to the back portion of the mall. The Supermarket that was formerly located at the rear west wing of the mall now occupies the west wing of the main building, right in front of its sister anchor, the Department Store. The Storyland theme park has been removed and transferred to SM Mall of Asia . The entire back portion of the mall now houses the Food Street; an Al Fresco dining area where some high-end restaurants are located. The Ice Skating Rink at the lower ground floor has been transferred to the 3rd Level (2nd Floor) of the main building, alongside the new Food Court location.

Overall, SM Southmall's renovation focuses on primarily store relocation and interior upgrades. The exterior façade of the mall is now being renovated, with the new SM logo being installed alongside with the new IMAX logo. As of November 2012, the renovation of SM Southmall is 100% complete

Famous quotes containing the word renovation:

Forgetfulness is necessary to remembrance. Ideas are retained by renovation of that impression which time is always wearing away, and which new images are striving to obliterate. If useless thoughts could be expelled from the mind, all the valuable parts of our knowledge would more frequently recur, and every recurrence would reinstate them in their former place.
    Samuel Johnson (1709–1784)

Postmodernity is the simultaneity of the destruction of earlier values and their reconstruction. It is renovation within ruination.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
