Skyline College - History

History

According to Skyline College-produced information on Community College Review, Skyline has a reputation of being an outstanding, medium-sized, two-year college, rich in diversity. A state-wide study found that Skyline was one of the top five California community colleges in terms of transfer to independent schools.

The campus is situated immediately west of a crest that overlooks the San Andreas fault — the uppermost parking lot provides a good view of the fault. Architecturally, the campus dates from the late 1960s. It was built of pre-formed concrete slabs bolted together with steel in anticipation of a great earthquake.

The college library is run by the Peninsula Library System.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery,—for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Books of natural history aim commonly to be hasty schedules, or inventories of God’s property, by some clerk. They do not in the least teach the divine view of nature, but the popular view, or rather the popular method of studying nature, and make haste to conduct the persevering pupil only into that dilemma where the professors always dwell.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Gossip is charming! History is merely gossip. But scandal is gossip made tedious by morality.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
