Skinny House (Deerfield)

Skinny House is an extremely narrow two-story house in Deerfield, Illinois. It is located on Hazel Ave. on Chestnut Street, and is located near the Deerfield Metra Station. The yellow-sided two-story house was built to fit a narrow lot. Not rectangular, it appears to be no wider than six feet at the east end, and flares out to around 20-25 feet at the west end. To local residents, it is also known as the Pie House, because to some it looks like a pie.

Famous quotes containing the words skinny and/or house:

In those days, the blag slag, the waste of the coal pits, had only begun to cover the side of our hill. Not enough to mar the countryside nor blacken the beauty of our village. For the colliery had only begun to poke its skinny black fingers between the green.
    Philip Dunne (1908–1992)

A pilgrim I on earth perplext,
with sinns, with cares and sorrows vext,
By age and paines brought to decay,
and my Clay house mouldring away,
Oh how I long to be at rest
and soare on high among the blest!
    Anne Bradstreet (c. 1612–1672)
